I now think that the person we had in to install the readers messed it up by installing the wrong driver (GRserial.sys). I have successfully installed the reader on another NT4 workstation with no errors. ![]() He installed the Smart Card Base Components, and then the smart card reader drivers and got to the above errors and left it with me to sort out (nice of him wasn't it!!!). I came to this particular job late - we had an engineer from Barclays in to install all the necessary hardware, and managed to get the USB smart Card Reader installed and working on an XP PC, but failed to get the Serial Smart Card Reader installed on the NT4 PC for the above reasons.
